On politics:

A Thai rice farmer is of more concern to God than the state of America.

  1. Sorry, I'm not getting this? Doesn't God care about everyone? Why would he care more about the Thai than about Americans - or vice-versa?

The state of America (i.e., politics, government, gas prices, economic crash) is of less concern to God than that single Thai rice farmer is.

  3. Hmm...I'd still insist that caring about individual Americans would include caring about the "state of America"...He cares about the things we face in our daily lives. Politics, resource availability, etc. were things that Jesus Christ thought were worth addressing while here on earth because those issues were really important to the He reached. Why is today different? If it really were, then why pray for anything besides salvation?

  4. But while here on earth, Jesus did not address Roman politics and gas prices. I didn't say God doesn't care at all. I simply said God cares more about a Thai than all-that.

Certainly God is, at the very least, aware of each individual's circumstances, and is interested in as far as it affects that individual. But I dare to assert only in as far as.
